Starting Survival Preparations (Parts 1 & 2)

There are people who have been prepping for years. Others have just recently started making preparations, and still others have recently decided they need to begin soon. Some, like me, have been doing it long before the term preppers was in vogue. I started making survival preparations way back in the 60′s. At that time, a nuclear war with the Soviet Union was the most likely catastrophe to befall us and so I boned up on the effects of nuclear war, how to survive it, etc. etc. So I’ve been preparing (prepping) for about 50 years. Does that make me an expert? No, not really. But it does mean that I have knowledge. And first hand experience as well. And that knowledge and experience can help you, not only in your survival preparations, but in actually surviving too.

Survival means different things to different people. If you’re in an avalanche and lived to talk about it, then by definition, you’re a survivor. If you were in the Japanese Tsunami last year, and survived, then you too are a survivor. But when we talk about survival here, we mean something totally different. Survival to us means that you made it through a national catastrophe, not a local disaster, and that many years later it’s still fresh in your mind. If there’s national anarchy for example, and you managed to live through it for 3 months before you bit the dust, then you’re NOT a survivor. You did not survive. You simply managed to stay alive for a short period of time. Survival means, not only are you still alive years after the catastrophe occurred, but that you are also thriving. If you managed to stay alive for 3 years after a catastrophe, but had to do so by eating nothing but bugs and worms, and the only aspect of civilization that was familiar to you was your language, then, by definition, yep … you’re a survivor … but just barely. And I don’t think too many of us who would consider that type of survival as acceptable.

So what we’re going to be talking about is how to survive indefinitely, and also how to thrive and rebuild your life. And if necessary, how to help rebuild civilization.

You’re already fully prepared? No you’re not. No one is. No one ever will be. Why? Because situations change. Unheard of events take place. Scenarios you’ve never thought of present themselves. Which means your survival preparations are, or at least they should be, in a constant state of flux. Of re-evaluation. Replacement and replenishment of supplies. Game plans have to be modified due to any number of factors, including weather, divorce, births, deaths, and yes, … your mother-in-law is there visiting when the shit hits the fan. So if you think you’re a fat cat, and you’re good to go, you’d better think again. You should be re-examining, and re-evaluating your survival plan, retesting your equipment, and learning new ways and methods of survival and of doing things. It requires an open mind. And an acknowledgement that someone else might have a better idea.

For those of you who have recently begun, it’s imperative you examine everything with a critical eye, and an unbiased thought process.

For those of you who are just now starting, or who have come to the conclusion that survival preparations are beginning to make sense, you have a hell of a lot of work to do, and unfortunately, it doesn’t look as though you’re going to have much time to do it in.

If you’re still reading, and regardless of the level of your preparations, there’s one factor that is absolutely critical to your survival. IT’S THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT OF SURVIVAL PREPARATIONS.

The knowledge, within yourself, that survival preparations are actually necessary. The belief that they’re necessary in order to protect yourself and your family. And the desire and intent to do something about it. If you don’t truly believe that, then don’t waste your time or your money making preparations. Believe me when I tell you that merely believing survival preparations will soon be necessary, taking the necessary action, and spending the required money on food and gear, is not even close to MAINTAINING that belief, commitment, and determination in the face of improved economic data, an improving personal situation, or in the face of critical (and often negative) commentary from friends and family. In other words it’s extremely difficult to keep the faith, if you will, that your efforts actually have merit and will one day save the lives of you and your family. Now having said all that, the REAL culprit will be the questions you’ll constantly ask yourself. … Can I afford to spend my limited monies on survival preparations? Am I making the right decision? Am I doing the right thing? What if I’m wrong and nothing happens? …. Well, they’re all good questions to be sure. And normal too. But a better question is … WHAT IF YOU’RE RIGHT?

That’s where you start. By making the decision you’re going to make preparations, regardless of what happens, and irregardless of any improvement in the outlook of the nation and of the world. We all know any improvement will be short lived. It always is.

Make the decision to prepare and stay with it, regardless. Put blinders on and Just Do it!

PART 2

OK … let’s assume you’ve made the decision to either begin preparations, to upgrade your survival gear, or to take another look at the preparations you have in place. Is that fair? Yeah … it is.

Have you ever watched Survival Preppers on the National Geographic Channel? (I think that’s the right channel.) Anyway … it’s an interesting show, although you have to keep in mind IT IS a show. And that the producers want to make money. To do that, it has to be entertaining, controversial, and/or be capable of maintaining a level of interest to continue to attract viewers. The show does that. But only if you’re interested or concerned about the potential for a catastrophe and/or the need to make survival preparations.

I watch it whenever I think about it, or whenever I stumble across it while looking for something worth watching.

So far I’m not overly impressed. However, everyone who has been featured has to be given kudos for at least one thing. They recognize the need to prepare, and they’re actively making preparations. From there, most of the featured preppers make a common mistake, and it’s a trap I don’t want you to fall into. THEY ARE INVARIABLY PREPARING TO SURVIVE ONE EVENT. Period. One is preparing to survive an eruption of the Yellowstone Caldera, one is preparing to survive an EMP attack, one for economic collapse, one for this, one for that. Next week we’ll probably see preparations for your wife’s entire family coming for a 30 day visit. (WHOA!) Here’s the problem with almost all of the featured preppers plans. They all have tunnel vision. They’ve convinced themselves that the scenario they’re preparing for is THE only one that will happen. Not only is that thought process narrow minded, it’s dangerous as well. While it’s true that having a supply of food and water etc. will help you to survive any disaster, prepping for ONE SPECIFIC event is NOT the way to go.

Last week featured a man in (I think) Massachusetts who had dug what he called an “urban foxhole” underneath his garage floor. He, his wife, and son, dug and built the foxhole with the garage door closed, carried the dirt outside and scattered it so none of their neighbors would ever know anything about it. His “foxhole” had what appeared to be a heavy duty aluminum hatch for an entry (and exit) and held enough supplies to keep his family alive for about 60 days. After that time, he reasoned that the locals who had not prepared would either be dead or would have moved (of necessity) to greener pastures. Reasonable right? Yeah, it is. He cached food, water etc. at a couple of way-points on a chosen route to his sailboat that was moored 15 miles away (in Cape Cod?) and took his family on a dry run. Starting sometime after dark, they left the urban foxhole (where they had spend the preceding 24 hour period) loaded up their gear and headed to the sailboat. Arriving at first light, they boarded the boat, which had about 2000 lbs of food and supplies on board, and set sail for a predetermined island somewhere out in the ocean.

The survival experts applauded his preparations, and while those preparations were all reasonable, there were two VERY MAJOR , AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY FLAWS to his plan. The so called survival experts caught one of them. HE WAS COUNTING ON HIS BOAT BEING WHERE HE MOORED IT AND THAT IT WOULD STILL HAVE THE SUPPLIES ABOARD. There are any number of events that could have taken his boat out of the equation. A storm could have sunk it. The stores could have been discovered and stolen (very likely actually), the boat could have simply been stolen by someone else with the thought process of getting to an island out in the cape, etc. etc.

But the most critical flaw in his plan was his Urban Foxhole. Here’s why. I didn’t prepare for anything, and I’m looking for food, water, supplies … anything I can find. Or I’m part of a loosely knit gang. I’m/we’re starving. And in bad shape. I/we start going through every house. Wait … what the hell’s this big submarine like hatch here in the garage floor of this house? Well hell … it’s locked (apparently from the inside). Do you need to be a Rhodes scholar to figure out what it is, or what it contains? I/we attempt to open it. We don’t have a portable oxyacetylene torch (or maybe we do) to cut our way inside. We don’t have one? OK. We can’t get inside? OK. Well in that case, whoever the prick is inside … he’s not getting out unless he has another entry or exit. Find the air vent and shut off his oxygen. Bang on the hatch continuously. It’ll be EXTREMELY loud down there. Drive them insane. If nothing else I’m locking this hatch up tight … I’m putting something heavy on it, or parking a car over it so it can’t be opened. Die you selfish bastard.

So how did the “survival experts” miss THAT one? Who knows? Perhaps they’re lacking in expertise themselves. But more likely, like the prepper, they didn’t take the time to throw scenario, after scenario into the equation. What if THIS happens? what if THAT happens? What if, after what if. Can you cover EVERY single possible contingency? Hardly, but whatever YOU can think of, someone else can (or has) thought of too. Get used to it.

So this particular preppers plan had no contingency plan involved. He was counting on EVERYTHING going the way he WANTED it to go, or that he THOUGHT it would go. IT WILL NOT … EVER … GO HOW YOU THINK IT WILL GO, OR HOW YOU PLAN FOR IT. ALMOST EVERY SINGLE SURVIVAL PLAN IN THE WORLD WILL BE SUBJECT TO INSTANT AND PERHAPS DRAMATIC CHANGE.

So … what I want you to take away from this is …. NEVER …. EVER … assume ANYTHING. Have a backup plan for the backup plan. Count on the unexpected, or X the unknown factor to be your constant companion. And NEVER get yourself locked into a thought process that cannot, or will not, allow you to view your preparations from any position other than from a perspective of SUPER CRITICAL. Tear your plan apart, put it back together, then tear it apart again and again. And NEVER … EVER … assume ONE EVENT will be the cause for you to institute your survival plan.

THE TIME FOR RHETORIC IS OVER

If you’ve been following National (and world) events, you should be painfully aware of the potential dangers in the not too distant future. If you have chosen to ignore the potential for a catastrophic event to take place, or if your normalcy bias won’t allow you to see that potential, then you’ll be among those who will suffer the consequences if a disaster occurs.

From this point on, unless something takes place that is highly unusual or volatile, I will be concentrating on helping those people, who have seen the light, to survive what is most likely to come our way. In other words, the majority of the blog posts from this point forward will be tied to aspects of survival.

We’ll begin shortly.

SATURDAYS

Don’t you just love Saturdays? It’s so peaceful. No political morons talking non-nonsensical and telling lies. No stock market to watch. No “experts” with exceptional discoveries, charts, graphs or skewed polls. No prophesies. And the socialist in the White House is out doing whatever a socialist does on a Saturday. Even the GOP is keeping their mouths shut. But then it’s only 1:30 PM Eastern time. A lot can happen by midnight. But let’s hope, for one day, that all the leftist idiots stay under the rocks they’ve crawled under and that we all get a much needed respite from their BS.

Tomorrow’s Sunday. Easter Sunday to be exact. ((Would it be too much to ask if we can stretch the peace and quiet to 2 days in a row?) Probably.

I think if Jesus was entombed today he would have arisen tomorrow to escape the circus that his Father’s creation has become.

IGNORED ASPECTS OF SURVIVAL

Preppers and survivalists generally pay due diligence to the supplies and equipment needed to survive (whatever it is they’re preparing for). They lay in stocks of food, ammo, make provisions for adequate water supplies, and for the most part recognize that a well stocked medical kit will also be a necessary part of their survival kit. Some, not all, have back-up plans in place and select alternate survival sites if their primary site is compromised.

But there are generally two aspects of survival that are universally ignored. One is absolutely critical to survival and is totally ignored. The other is overlooked by the majority of preppers and survivalists.

What are they?

Your over-all health, and more specifically the shape you are in, (and that of your family members) will become a critical segment of any survival plans you’re making.

People who believe survival preparations are required ignore the necessity to get into shape. To quit smoking. To get as healthy as they can before the SHTF. Why? Because it’s no fun. Because it’s hard work … because they erroneously believe they can walk 50 miles carrying a 100 lb pack (in snow, sand, or under adverse conditions). In other words, when the time comes, they believe they’ll manage. WRONG. If you’re not in shape you won’t be walking 50 miles period. Much less with a pack on your back. Suppose you’re in shape but your husband/wife isn’t. What then? You’re going to carry your gear, their gear, AND them? NOT HAPPENING!

Is it difficult to incorporate a regimented get-in-shape program into your survival preparations? Well … yes, and no. It’s part of the survival mindset really. But it’s a difficult aspect of survival preparations to adhere too because it’s in the here-and-now, while the disaster you’re preparing for is subjective and is somewhere in the future. Call it human nature if you want to. But call those not in shape dead if the SHTF and they ignored the fact they have to be in shape.

The often overlooked aspect of survival is the technology that is available to the bad-guys. Now those bad guys could be scumbags, police, national guard and even the military. Or even a combination of all of them. If it’s just the “bad-guys” their access to technology probably isn’t going to be any different than yours. But … if there are government agencies involved, the technology available to them is light years ahead of what you’re going to have.

That technology ranges from automatic weapons, armored vehicles, communications, TRAINING, logistics and support, to air-strike and air assault capability, as well as thermal imaging, outstanding night vision equipment, drone recon and even satellite surveillance.

Good luck evading or combating any of those.

MONEY = FREEDOM

Quite a title huh? Is that true? Does money equal freedom? The answer … ABSOLUTELY. Take a look at some obvious examples. Wealthy movie stars … well certainly not all of them, but you can figure out which ones are which … have a ready made forum for their viewpoints. People will listen to what they have to say via the media. They can donate time and money to starving children in Africa (for example) because they can afford to, and because they have the time to pursue the effort. They don’t have to worry about how to pay next months rent, where they’ll get the money to pay the electric etc. etc. While most of us could care less about the opinions of people who get rich pretending to be someone else, the fact of the matter is, these people live in a world the average American can’t begin to comprehend. They have the freedom to go where they want, when they want to go there, how they wish to get there, who they choose to go there with, and what they’re going to do when they get there. They are as close to the everyday American citizen’s life as a pencil is to a super-computer.

Do I begrudge them their money? Of course not.

But if you think for a minute that money doesn’t equal freedom you’re living in a parallel universe. Money can’t buy happiness? No? Maybe not but it can buy a reasonable facsimile. It can’t buy love either. Or so “they” say. But if you have tons of money, you’re not likely to be lonely either.

I say all this to point out one simple truism. Without capitalism, 95% of those that have money today would likely NOT have that money under Socialism. Certainly not under Communism or Fascism. So of all the “isms” in the world, the only one that allows common, everyday people the opportunity to make unlimited amounts of money is Capitalism. In the end, the money that can be made via Capitalism can provide the earner a heightened degree of freedom by stripping away the constraints that NOT HAVING ENOUGH MONEY entails.

I read the other day that you might want to think twice about winning a lottery worth 600 million dollars because of all the problems it would cause you. The writer made absolutely ZERO sense, and provided ZERO credible points. He (or she) was also quite possible insane, or at least a liberal twit, or a movie star wannabe. Do you think that writer would give up the winning lotto ticket if he/she had it? Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.

Is this post relevant to anything in our world today? Not really … other than Capitalism beats Socialism 999,999,999,999 out of one billion comparisons. And the one example that Socialism beat out capitalism on was a computer glitch.

If you don’t want the opportunity to make enough money to have more freedom than you currently have, vote for Obama in November. If he’s re-elected, your wish will be granted before his 2nd term is up.

GRASSHOPPERS AND ANTS

It’s interesting to read internet posts that are made on articles referencing potential future catastrophes and negative articles about the left and the right. It’s also very simple to discern the political leanings of the individual posters. It’s a fact, and you can check it out for yourself, that almost invariably, posters from the left are insulting, rude, and use extensive profanity condemning posts made from the right. The posts from the right, for the most part, are reasonably polite and matter of fact. So there’s little difference between posts from the left and right, and actual conversations between those on the left and those on the right. Liberals ARE insulting, rude and can’t communicate effectively without resorting to extensive use of profanity in an effort to get their point across. So what else is new?

I have a neighbor who is more a moderate than liberal or conservative. He’s retired, or semi-retired and so has a lot of free time. We live on a salt-water canal, and I watch him check his crab trap daily, fish, and go to the community pool. He hasn’t a care in the world. I talked to him once about what most of us believe is coming. He stated he didn’t believe it. That the country will always persevere. That the government will always provide. And that it wasn’t his job to prepare to survive anything. That’s why we pay taxes and why we have a government.

I have another neighbor who believes just the opposite. And although they’re roughly the same age, the 1st guy is like the grasshopper. He’s totally oblivious to the reality of the world situation and he goes about enjoying his life on a daily basis while leaving everything else to the government to take care of. The 2nd man is like the ant. He’s retired too. But he’s busy all day, every day. He’s prepping … and he’s making preparations to survive in place once the festivities begin.

I live between the two. It will be interesting in the days, weeks, and months ahead … to watch them … assuming the grasshopper is wrong and the ant is right. Will the ant feed the grasshopper if he’s starving? Hell no he won’t. The grasshopper will either starve or he’ll go where those who are unwilling to make preparations (as a form of insurance) and who depend on a dysfunctional government will go when the SHTF.

The ant? He’ll still be able to eat. He’ll have water. Lighting capabilities and the other necessities for survival. And he’ll be able to defend what he has from the grasshoppers of the world.

TROJAN HORSE

This is a blog by Tim Brown. It is a VERY interesting read.

While the Supreme Court heard this week about the individual mandate issue concerning the new Healthcare law, or as it has been termed Obamacare, which is really socialized medicine, there didn’t seem to be much coverage over other things that are contained in the “Health law”. One of those issues is a standing private army.
Obamacare is a trojan horse. It is not about healthcare at all, but about control. Control in more way than one and this is why they wanted a vote on it without knowing what was in it.
On July 2, 2008 Barack Obama, in a speech in Colorado Springs, said he wanted a “national security force”, obviously not one that had sworn an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. Then Senator Obama called for a police state.
Maybe you recall the brain washing of young black men seeing Barack Obama as their furor and Messiah as they shout his praises for who they might become.
All of this is reminiscient of Adolph Hitler’s brown shirt youths of the 1940′s. Well, this private little army made its way into Obamacare. It has nothing to do with healthcare and everything to do with power and control. In fact, I suspect that should the Supreme Court throw out the individual mandate and keep the rest, that the administration and the Democrats will be perfectly fine with it since it will get much of what it wants anyway.

Sec. 5209. Elimination of cap on commissioned corps.

Subtitle D–Enhancing Health Care Workforce Education and Training
When you reference this with the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act, page 1312 you find:
SEC. 5210. ESTABLISHING A READY RESERVE CORPS.
Section 203 of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 204) is amended to read as follows:
SEC. 203. COMMISSIONED CORPS AND READY RESERVE CORPS.
(a) ESTABLISHMENT–
(1) IN GENERAL.–here shall be in the Service a commissioned Regular Corps and a Ready Reserve Corps for service in time of national emergency.
(2) REQUIREMENT.–All commissioned officers shall be citizens of the United States and shall be appointed without regard to the civil-service laws and compensated without regard to the Classification Act 2 of 1923, as amended.
(3) APPOINTMENT.–Commissioned officers of the Ready Reserve Corps shall be appointed by the President and commissioned officers of the Regular Corps shall be appointed by the President with the advice and consent of the Senate.
(4) ACTIVE DUTY.–Commissioned officers of the Ready Reserve Corps shall at all times be subject to call to active duty by the Surgeon General, including active duty for the purpose of training.
(5) WARRANT OFFICERS.–Warrant officers may be appointed to the Service for the purpose of providing support to the health and delivery systems maintained by the Service and any warrant officer appointed to the Service shall be considered for purposes of this Act and title 37, United States Code, to be a commissioned officer within the Commissioned Corps of the Service.
(b) ASSIMILATING RESERVE CORP OFFICERS INTO THE REGULAR CORPS.—Effective on the date of enactment of the Affordable Health Choices Act, all individuals classified as officers in the Reserve Corps under this section (as such section existed on the day before the date of enactment of such Act) and serving on active duty shall be deemed to be commissioned officers of the Regular Corps.
This is simply Barack Obama personally appointing Reserve Corp Officers into the Regular Corps without the consent of the Senate.
(c) PURPOSE AND USE OF READY RESERVE.–
(1) PURPOSE.–The purpose of the Ready Reserve Corps is to fulfill the need to have additional Commissioned Corps personnel available on short notice (similar to the uniformed service’s reserve program) to assist regular Commissioned Corps personnel to meet both routine public health and emergency response missions.
(2) USES.–The Ready Reserve Corps shall–
(A) participate in routine training to meet the general and specific needs of the Commissioned Corps;
(B) be available and ready for involuntary calls to active duty during national emergencies and public health crises, similar to the uniformed service reserve personnel;
(C) be available for backfilling critical positions left vacant during deployment of active duty Commissioned Corps members, as well as for deployment to respond to public health emergencies, both foreign and domestic; and
(D) be available for service assignment in isolated, hardship, and medically underserved communities (as defined in section 399SS) to improve access to health services.
(d) FUNDING.—For the purpose of carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the Commissioned Corps under this section, there are authorized to be appropriated such sums as may be necessary to the Office of the Surgeon General for each of fiscal years 2010 through 2014. Funds appropriated under this subsection shall be used for recruitment and training of Commissioned Corps Officers.
Before I hear the cries of people saying “This is not an army”, I’ll advise you think through the information presented and then think along the lines of what happened with Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana. I’ll ask you to think of putting the Ready Reserve Corps Officers into the Regular Corps. I’ll ask you to think of the forked tongue of Barack Obama. I’ll ask you to think of Professor Barack Obama and just how he taught Constitutional law at Chicago Law School.
My fellow Americans, the gates have been opened and the trojan horse has been brought into the city.

WEATHERING THE STORM

How do politicians, and more specifically the Federal Government, get away with the the crap they pull, the gaffs that happen, and the bad press and outright lies?

It’s quite simple really.

In this era of information technology and “news overload,” all they have to do is to Weather the Storm.

Take a look at EVERY single news-worthy event of the past. How long does any of it remain in the public consciousness? Until something new comes along to replace it. The media sensationalizes EVERY bit of news. They have to if they want to compete, keep (or increase) their advertisers, and make money. News outlets are businesses. They’re there to make money. Sadly, their job is no longer to report factually on the news.

So if Obama gets caught (for example) with an open mike while talking to the President of Russia, the news media may (or may not) sensationalize the story. If the event causes embarrassment or raises negative questions about the intent of the statement, all the administration has to do is to belittle the situation or even ignore it altogether and it will go away. People will forget about it in short order. Because something NEW will replace it within a VERY short amount of time.

Weathering the storm isn’t something new. But it’s been taken to new heights because of the fast moving, and continuous “bad events that happens in the USA and around the world on a daily basis.

Cases in point. The Japanese tsunami. The Joplin tornado. And Casey Anthony. Huge stories at the time. And unless you were directly impacted by those events you’ve pretty much forgotten about them.

And so it is with anything the government does. They know if they just ignore it (whatever “it” is) it will go away by tomorrow.

CONNECTING THE DOTS

Connecting dots isn’t an exact science. In fact it’s not science at all. It’s simply an effort to tie bits of information together to fill in the blanks and to answer questions the individual pieces of info produced. Kind of like putting a puzzle together to provide a picture. The problem is that all dots aren’t connectable. Some of them are pieces to a different puzzle. So learning to connect dots that are relevant is paramount when attempting to see the bigger picture.

The information (or picture) produced doesn’t mean the result becomes fact. The opposite is generally true. Normally, connecting the dots raises more questions than it answers.

Those of you who read my blogs should be aware by now that I am a staunch conservative and that I have zero regard for the liberal mindset. I don’t apologize for that. It’s what I believe. It’s who I am. You should also realize that I am not a conspiracy nut. Nor do I hope the dismal outlook for the country becomes fact. I would like the United States to be prosperous. I’d like nothing better than to see a return to “normalcy.”

But it doesn’t appear normalcy is going to happen.

Because I’ve been connecting the dots. And I don’t like the picture that’s emerging. In fact … connecting yesterdays dot has answered a lot of questions … and produced a very dark and troubling picture.

The last dot! Homeland Security …. HOMELAND FRICKEN SECURITY … contracted with an ammunition manufacturer to be provided with 450 million (450,000,000) rounds of HOLLOW POINT pistol ammunition and 175 million (175,000,000) rounds of rifle ammunition during the next 12 months. That’s a total of 625 million (625,000,000) rounds of ammunition. Ask yourself these questions. What the hell does Homeland Security need that much ammunition for? And Hollow Points? REALLY? How many people do they even authorize to carry a firearm. That much ammo is roughly 2 rounds for every man woman and child in the United States.

Invasion? Unlikely. Defense against terrorism? Gimme a break. Target practice with hollow points? Ha, ha, ha.

The answer? You decide Pilgrim. Do a little homework. Connect the same dots I’ve connected and produce your own picture.

It’ll mean more to you than accepting the conclusion I’ve come to.

That something is up. Somebody “up there” knows something that those of us “down here” are unaware of.

The upside? We’ll be informed in due time. And that time is getting shorter every day.

MARTIAL LAW – THE OBAMA CHRONICLES

Remember at the beginning of the year I predicted Obama would cancel the presidential election in November due to a National Emergency? Check this editorial out from the Washington Post.

President Obama has given himself the powers to declare martial law — especially in the event of a war with Iran. It is a sweeping power grab that should worry every American.

On March 16, the White House released an executive order, “National Defense Resources Preparedness.” The document is stunning in its audacity and a flagrant violation of the Constitution. It states that, in case of a war or national emergency, the federal government has the authority to take over almost every aspect of American society. Food, livestock, farming equipment, manufacturing, industry, energy, transportation, hospitals, health care facilities, water resources, defense and construction — all of it could fall under the full control of Mr. Obama. The order empowers the president to dispense these vast resources as he sees fit during a national crisis.

“The United States must have an industrial and technological base capable of meeting national defense requirements and capable of contributing to the technological superiority of its national defense equipment in peacetime and in times of national emergency,” the order says. “The domestic industrial and technological base is the foundation for national defense preparedness. The authorities provided in the act shall be used to strengthen this base and to ensure it is capable of responding to the national defense needs of the United States.”

In short, the order gives Mr. Obama the ability to impose martial law. He now possesses the potential powers of a dictator. The order is a direct assault on individual liberties, private property rights and the rule of law. It is blatantly unconstitutional. The executive branch is arrogating responsibilities precluded by the Constitution without even asking the permission of Congress. The order gives Mr. Obama a blank check to erect a centralized authoritarian state. This is a law one would expect to find in Hugo Chavez’s Venezuela or Vladimir Putin’s Russia.

The backdrop to the executive order is the looming showdown with Iran. The administration says the “window for diplomacy is closing.” Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta warned Tehran’s mullahs that “all options are on the table” — including military intervention. Mr. Obama stresses that his patience is running out. He vows that Iran will not acquire the bomb. Mr. Obama wants several more months for sanctions and international isolation to bring the ayatollahs to heel. Yet the signals are clear: Mr. Obama may be ready to launch devastating airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

If that should happen, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has promised massive retaliation. American troops will be targeted by Iranian proxies in Iraq and Afghanistan. American embassies will be struck across the Middle East and North Africa. Most ominously, Iranian-backed Hezbollah cells could launch devastating terrorist attacks in major U.S. cities, killing numerous citizens. The war may well come home, triggering domestic chaos. These are the very real risks of a major conflict with Iran.

Which begs the question: Would that tempt Mr. Obama to claim a state of emergency and thereby implement his executive order? No one knows the answer. And we shouldn’t have to find out. The president does not — and should not – have the authority to subordinate the entire private economy to the government, especially without the consent of Congress and the American people. It is national socialism masquerading as military security.

This is why conservatives — those who are serious about defending our constitutional republic – should demand that the executive order be repealed immediately. Liberals argue that President Clinton issued a nearly identical mandate. President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the first national defense resources preparedness order, which has been amended by successive presidents, including George W. Bush. Hence, according to the progressive left, if it was good enough for FDR, Mr. Clinton and Mr. Bush, why not Mr. Obama?

The answer is simple: Because the Constitution matters — or at least it should. For more than 70 years, liberal Democrats and corporatist Republicans have been slowly dismantling the old republic, imposing a creeping social democracy. The Founding Fathers’ vision of limited government and federalism has been replaced by a new ruling class. FDR, Mr. Clinton, Mr. Bush — all of them were militarists expanding the size and scope of government. They were Wilsonian globalists, and they shamelessly violated civil liberties. FDR was the worst, by forcing Japanese-Americans into internment camps.

Mr. Obama’s executive order represents the culmination of the welfare-warfare state. He is walking in the footsteps of his predecessors, those who enabled the rise of the imperial presidency. And it leads to only one tragic end: the gradual deterioration of our democracy.

STAND YOUR GROUND

The Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman “saga” has opened up an old “can of worms.” Night-crawlers, actually. The entire, unfortunate incident has become political fodder. Everyone who is anyone, has weighed in on the shooting. Emotions, or should I say, feigned emotions, are running at a fever pitch.

From Obama, who has absolutely zero business getting involved (again) in this type of incident in any way, shape, or form, to the Black Panthers who have put a $10,000 bounty on Mr. Zimmerman’s head, (more on THAT in a few), to other liberal politicians, sports figures, and … well, the list is virtually endless. And you can look at the responses and see … beyond ANY shadow of a doubt … that the incident is nothing more than a political football. Gun control advocates will be coming out of the woodwork (again) in an effort to take away our guns … racial undertones are non-existent. They’re blatantly perpetrated. The LAW, in this case, is irrelevant. At least to the millions who have tried and convicted Mr. Zimmerman in the court of public opinion. His presumed innocence was never an issue. He shot and killed a young black kid, therefore, he is a murderer. And a racist murderer at that.

But the “facts,” are few and far between. Florida’s Stand Your Ground Law allows anyone with a concealed carry permit to shoot and kill if they feel their life is in danger. Now that is a subjective term, to be sure. However … there really aren’t that many citizens who will shoot first and ask questions later, contrary to what the liberal media would have us all believe. They will say he should have run away. Unfortunately it’s probably pretty hard, if not impossible, to run when someone is beating the crap out of you, or is attempting too. Then too, if you were minding your own business, why should you have to run from an attacker? At any rate, the law itself is pretty solid. Could it be abused? Of course it could. Show me one law on the books that couldn’t or isn’t abused multiple times daily.

But the drive-by media, in all of their righteous indignation, has completely over-looked anything that remotely resembles justice for George Zimmerman. “They” want his scalp. And no one, other than those on the right, have said ONE SINGLE word about the obscene bounty put on Zimmerman’s head by the Black Panthers. Not one single word. This is 2012 … not 1812. If someone caps old George, should the entire Black Panther organization be charged with accessory to murder? HELL YES. Would they be charged. HELL NO! But what If the shooter was black and the victim was white? What would be happening? The drive-by’s would report on it in passing, Obama would not have said a word, and the Black Panthers would be defending the shooter. THAT’S A FACT FOLKS. Because no one on earth is as prejudiced as the Black Panthers, Spike Lee, Obama, et al. And that sucks. Because this is not, nor was it ever, about race. It’s not about black and white. It IS about right and wrong. What if Trayvon Martin started the altercation? What if he got violent? What if Zimmerman WAS defending himself? Would that make a difference? Are you kidding? Of course it wouldn’t. This story can have but one ending that will satisfy the insatiable blood lust of the left. But let me tell you, there are MILES and MILES of political hay for a lot of people to make before we hear the end of this one.

And the “hoodie?” If “ganstas” (not my word) wear hoodies, and it has the appeal of a badge of honor, or the unofficial gangster uniform if you will, then anyone wearing a hoodie, who is not known in the community in which he is walking in … in the dark … should understand that the “hoodie/uniforms” significance carries a connotation that wouldn’t be there if the hoodie wasn’t “up” That’s just the way it is. Is it right? Probably not. But it IS real. Unfortunately, truth, as the old saying goes, is usually painful. And when it is, it’s universally ignored or given that old catch all phrase … PREJUDICED.

So it doesn’t matter what the truth is. It never does. This will be about the justification of potential new gun laws, perceived bigotry by whites and of racial inequality for blacks. It doesn’t matter to those who will be pulling the political strings that a young man is dead, and another’s life will be forever altered, because they can grab the lime-light and point their fingers, make their demands, run their mouths, and grab some press.

In the end, justice, and the truth, will be irrelevant. The same way that our laws are relevant only if they meet the goals and agendas of those who would flaunt or denounce them.

He looked youthful, spoke well, appeared to be confident — a wholesome Presidential package. I was put off soon, not just because of his shallowness but also because there was an air of haughtiness in his demeanor that was unsettling. His posture and his body language were louder than his empty words. Obama’s speeches are unlike any political speech we have heard in American history. Never a politician in this land had such quasi “religious” impact on so many people.

The fact that Obama is a total incognito with Zero accomplishment, makes this inexplicable infatuation alarming. Obama is not an ordinary man. He is not a genius. In fact he is quite ignorant on most important subjects.”

Dr. Sam Vaknin, the author of the Malignant Self Love believes “Barack Obama appears to be a narcissist.” Vaknin is a world authority on narcissism. He understands narcissism and describes the inner mind of a narcissist like no other person. When he talks about narcissism everyone listens. Vaknin says that Obama’s language, posture and demeanor, and the testimonies of his closest, dearest friends suggest that the man is either a narcissist or he may have narcissistic personality disorder (NPD).

Narcissists project a grandiose but false image of themselves. Jim Jones, the charismatic leader of People’s Temple, the man who led over 900 of his followers to cheerfully commit mass suicide and even murder their own children was also a narcissist. David Koresh, Charles Manson, Joseph Koni, Shoko Asahara, Stalin, Saddam, Mao, Kim Jong Ill and Adolph Hitler are a few examples of narcissists of our time. All these men had a tremendous influence over their fanciers. They created a personality cult around themselves and with their blazing speeches elevated their admirers, filled their hearts with enthusiasm and instilled in their minds a new zest for life. They gave them hope! They promised them the moon, but alas, invariably they brought them to their doom.

When you are a victim of a cult of personality, you don’t know it until it is too late. One determining factor in the development of NPD is childhood abuse “Obama’s early life was decidedly chaotic and replete with traumatic and mentally bruising dislocations,”says Vaknin. “Mixed-race marriages were even less common then. His parents went through a divorce when he was an infant two years old. Obama saw his father only once again, before he died in a car accident. Then his mother re-married and Obama had to relocate to Indonesia , a foreign land with a radically foreign culture, to be raised by a step-father.

At the age of ten, he was whisked off to live with his maternal (white) grandparents. He saw his mother only intermittently in the following few years and then she vanished from his life in 1979. “She died of cancer in 1995.”

One must never underestimate the manipulative genius of pathological narcissists. They project such an imposing personality that it overwhelms those around them. Charmed by the charisma of the narcissist, people become like clay in his hands. They cheerfully do his bidding and delight to be at his service. The narcissist shapes the world around himself and reduces others in his own inverted image. He creates a cult of personality. His admirers become his co-dependents. Narcissists have no interest in things that do not help them to reach their personal objective. They are focused on one thing alone and that is power. All other issues are meaningless to them and they do not want to waste their precious time on trivialities. Anything that does not help them is beneath them and does not deserve their attention.

If an issue raised in the Senate does not help Obama in one way or another, he has no interest in it. The “present” vote is a safe vote. No one can criticize him if things go wrong. Those issues are unworthy by their very nature because they are not about him.

Obama’s election as the first black President of the Harvard Law Review led to a contract and advance to write a book about race relations. The University of Chicago Law School provided him a lot longer than expected and at the end it evolved into, guess what ? His own autobiography ! Instead of writing a scholarly
paper focusing on race relations, for which he had been paid, Obama could not resist writing about his most sublime self. He entitled the book “Dreams from My Father”.

Not surprisingly, Adolph Hitler also wrote his own autobiography when he was still a nobody. So did Stalin. For a narcissist no subject is as important as his own self. Why would he waste his precious time and genius writing about insignificant things when he can write about such an august being as himself ?

Narcissists are often callous and even ruthless. As the norm, they lack conscience. This is evident from Obama’s lack of interest in his own brother who lives on only one dollar per month. A man who lives in luxury, who takes a private jet to vacation in Hawaii, and who raised nearly half a billion dollars for his campaign (something unprecedented in history) has no interest in the plight of his own brother. Why ? Because, his brother cannot be used for his ascent to power. A narcissist cares for no one but himself.

This election was like no other in the history of America . The issues were insignificant compared to what is at stake. What can be more dangerous than having a man bereft of conscience, a serial liar, and one who cannot distinguish his fantasies from reality as the leader of the free world ?

I hate to sound alarmist, but one is a fool if one is not alarmed. Many politicians are narcissists. They pose no threat to others. They are simply self serving and selfish. Obama evidences symptoms of pathological narcissism, which is different from the run-of-the-mill narcissism of a Richard Nixon or a Bill Clinton for example. To him reality and fantasy are intertwined.

This is a mental health issue, not just a character flaw. Pathological narcissists are dangerous because they look normal and even intelligent. It is this disguise that makes them treacherous. Today the Democrats have placed all their hopes in Obama. But this man could put an end to their party. The great majority of Blacks voted for Obama. Only a fool does not know that their support for him is racially driven. This is racism, pure and simple.
The downside of this is that if Obama turns out to be the disaster I predict, he will cause widespread resentment among the Whites. The Blacks are unlikely to give up their support of their Man. Cultic mentality is pernicious and unrelenting. They will dig their heads deeper in the sand and blame Obama’s detractors of ‘Racism’. This will cause a backlash among the Whites. The White supremacists will take advantage of the discontent and they will receive widespread support. I predict that in less than four years, racial tensions will increase to levels never seen since the turbulent 1960′s.

Obama will set the clock back decades. America is the bastion of freedom. The peace of the World depends on the strength of America , and its weakness translates into the triumph of terrorism and victory of rogue nations. It is no wonder that Ahmadinejad, Hugo Chavez, the Castrists, the Hezbollah, the Hamas, the lawyers of the Guantanamo terrorists, and virtually all sworn enemies of America are so thrilled by the prospect of their Man in the White House.

America is on the verge of destruction. There is no insanity greater than electing a pathological narcissist as President.

That synopsis, written PRIOR to the election of Obama, dove-tails perfectly with everything he has said, and everything he has done (and NOT done) since the election process began.

Like I said yesterday. Obama is a VERY DANGEROUS man.

ENTITLEMENT

By now most of you are probably aware that President Obama has sent his 13 year old daughter to Mexico for Spring Break. Huh?

Forget for a minute the impact such a boneheaded decision like this could have on the United States. Concentrate on WHAT THE HELL TYPE OF PARENT WOULD ALLOW THEIR 13 YEAR OLD CHILD TO VACATION IN MEXICO? The city she’s visiting? Irrelevant. But the city adjacent to the city the girl is vacationing in is on the State Departments DO NOT TRAVEL LIST, as being TOO DANGEROUS.

Now I don’t know about you, but my 13 year old child IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE without family along. NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. EVER! Is she in danger? Maybe … maybe not. But why take the chance? Remember Natalie Holloway? She was what … 18 or 19? Ok … Miss Obama will have 25 Secret Service agents along to protect her … so the odds are reasonably good nothing untoward will happen to her.

Here’s just a few of the problems with the entire deal.

1. Mr. Obama is “betting” that 25 Secret Service agents can protect his daughter from being kidnapped and held for ransom, or at least from being harmed. That tells me he is totally lacking in a sense of reality, and in effect, his parenting skills are as questionable as his management abilities.
2. If this young girl were to be (somehow) kidnapped by hostiles (drug cartels) and held for ransom, what does he do then? He SHOULD recluse himself because there is NO WAY he can make intelligent decisions regarding the kidnapping and ultimately, the demands of the kidnappers. Did someone sit him down and say “Mr. President this is NOT a good idea?” I’m betting they did. I’d also bet he ignored the advise. His sense of self importance, naivete, in-experience, and sense of entitlement would never allow him to see the potential dangers behind the decision.
3. In an economy where the vast majority of Americans’ probably can’t afford to take their children anywhere, Obama is going to spend Millions of YOUR DOLLARS for secret service protection to allow his 13 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER TO VACATION IN MEXICO. Yeah … Millions … hotel staff has to have back-ground checks run, potential blind-sports, sniper roosts etc. etc. have to be checked out, armored cars have to be transported etc. etc. etc. You figure it out.
Furthermore, why not allow the child to vacation INSIDE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. There are plenty of places for her to go. And the attendant press corps, entourages etc. etc. would help to stimulate a local economy.

In short, Obama has once again demonstrated his lack of common sense and sense of reality. In good conscience, even the Liberal left has got to be wondering WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING?

The man IS DANGEROUS.

POWER GRAB — AMERICANS BEWARE!

“Not only that, but the authority claimed inside the EO does not only apply to National Emergencies and times of war. It also applies in peacetime.
“The National Defense Resources Preparedness Executive Order exploits the “authority” granted to the President in the Defense Production Act of 1950 in order to assert that virtually every means of human survival is now available for confiscation and control by the President via his and his Secretaries’ whim.
“The unconstitutionality of the overwhelming majority of Executive Orders is well established, as well as the illegality of denying citizens their basic Constitutional and human rights, even in the event of a legitimate national emergency. Likewise, it should also be pointed out that, like Obama’s recentLibyan adventure and the foregone conclusion of a Syrian intervention, there is no mention of Congress beyond a minor role of keeping the allegedly co-equal branch of government informed on contextually meaningless developments.”

SUCK IT UP!

Do you ever get tired? I don’t mean sleepy-tired. Or the tiredness you feel after physical labor. I’m talking mental fatigue. As in, you’d like nothing better than to go to sleep, wake up, and all of the BS in your life would be gone-tired?

That’s me today.

I spend a lot of time reading Internet posts. Well the news primarily … cause I could care less what Miss X wore on the red carpet in Hollywood, or what some fat-ass, liberal celebrity thinks about politics. Which includes you Tom Hanks. Even though I think you’re one of the most talented actors of all time, the fact remains … you act. So while your acting ability is at the top of the heap, your ringing endorsement of Herr Obama, gives me pause to consider that unfortunately, you are as phony as the rest of Liberal-wood.

Be that as it may, the latest news is certainly not news-worthy. Just more of the same garbage. The economy is definitely picking up … things are improving dramatically … gas prices will be coming down because Obama is going to release 298 ka-billion barrels of oil from the strategic reserve, (No doubt just prior to the November election), and on, and on, and on. Non-stop.
Such liars. We can’t (in good conscience) continue to refer to spin as a play on words. Not anymore. It goes WAAAY beyond that by now. They’re out and out lies. And those lies by the “Shepard’s” in Washington are grooming the flock for the November election. In hopes that the country can endure 4 more years of the man who would be King. Yeah … that’s the one. The Messiah. The same socialist who has screwed this country up and over for the past 4 years is hoping for another four so he can finish the job he started. The demolition of the Worlds last Super-Power.

The pundits who foresee a continued stock market rise and a stabilization of the global financial markets are BETTING that nothing out of the ordinary will happen. No major natural disasters — no inflation – no more unrest or wars in the Middle East — a compliant Iran — and an Israel who is willing to place their country’s future in the hands of the United Nations. They don’t factor in an X-factor because they can’t. Unless they have a crystal ball. How many “things” could go wrong to change the current “feel-good” thought processes of the idiots on Wall Street? Given the history of the stock market, if someone burps in the Middle East or Greece has ANY trouble meeting its’ new financial obligations, or any of a 1000 other scenarios, the stock market could easily go down by 1000 points in a week instead of the slow upward trend it’s shown over the past month.

If you’re one of the sheep — if you have a herd mentality — don’t do anything different than what you’ve been doing. Trust your government, continue to watch reality shows that aren’t even close to reality, and continue to look the other way. Never mind that you can’t find a job, that you can’t pay your rent, or that the cost of feeding your family has risen by over 10% in the past 2 months. Or that gas is fast approaching $4.00 a gallon again. SUCK IT UP. It’ll be OK. Obama said so. And that should be good enough for anybody.

As for me, I’m mentally exhausted reading the continuous, non-ending garbage that anyone with a half a brain should be able to see through. But I’ll recover. I have to SUCK IT UP too. It IS Sunday after-all. And Sunday is a day of rest.

ARE YOU A BETTING MAN?

Well, are you? I’ll bet you are. Even though you might not realize it — you make bets on a regular basis.

“OK numb-nuts, you’re so smart, tell me … what bets do I make, and what are the stakes?” “I don’t gamble. Don’t believe in it. Well, … maybe a lotto ticket now and then, but that’s about it. So enlighten me.”

First of all I assume you can read, since you’re (apparently) reading this post. That’s a plus. Which means you probably read, watch, or listen to, a significant amount of news, sports, weather, etc. on a daily basis. Which SHOULD make you informed. But only if you’re capable of discerning what the news you’re listening to or watching is actually saying. For most Americans it means they are misinformed. Because they believe what they read or hear. I covered this subject in a previous post (maybe two, I can’t remember) and I don’t intend to duplicate it here.

If your instincts … (your gut feeling)… is telling you “things” are not what your ears are hearing and your eyes are reading, AND if your eyes are sending signals to your brain that is contradictory to what you’ve read, don’t you think you should start paying some sort of allegiance to your own senses? What you hear from the left (oh joyful day) vs what you hear from the right (oh doom n gloom) should make you a least WONDER WHO THE HELL IS TELLING THE TRUTH. Oh … that’s right … I forgot … you can’t get past your own bias long enough to consider a different thought process. That’s two of your five senses you’re ignoring. SIGHT and HEARING. Can’t really use taste, touch or smell effectively, even though something definitely stinks in Washington. But I digress.

The question you asked was … “what bets do I make and what are the stakes?”

The stakes my friend, is your life. Yours, and the lives of your family. Gambling stakes don’t get any bigger than that. You lose you die. Quite a game huh? Except it’s not a game. It’s very real. And the gamble you’re taking is in doing NOTHING to prepare for a future (possibly by this summer) catastrophe of epic proportions. Because you choose to look the other way … you choose to ignore the warning signs … you choose NOT to seek the truth. Because you don’t WANT to believe one word that doesn’t fit into the mental niche you’ve carved out for yourself. And because you choose to believe those who have proven to be liars, users, and even thieves, the biggest theft of all time, for some of you, will be the loss of your freedom, your liberty, your way of life, and possibly, your life itself.
